Our home market, from South Eugene to Santa Clara.
Eugene has an unusually wide mix of kitchens: 1920s–1950s homes in South Eugene and the Friendly Area with solid-wood cabinets worth keeping, and 1970s–2000s houses in Santa Clara, Cal Young and the Southeast Hills with oak and builder-grade cabinets that look dated but are built fine. We paint, refinish and reface both, and we paint exteriors across town in the dry season.
In South Eugene, the Friendly Area and around Amazon Park, many kitchens still have their original solid-wood cabinets. They're worth keeping. Careful prep and a sprayed finish, or a fresh stain, makes them look new without losing the character of an older house.
In Santa Clara, Cal Young, the Southeast Hills and Bethel, the usual job is honey oak or builder-grade maple from the 1980s–2000s. The boxes are solid; the color is what dates the room. Painting them white, greige, sage or two-tone changes the whole kitchen for a fraction of what new cabinets cost.
We walk the kitchen with you, show you color samples in your own light, and quote the work in writing before anything starts.
Built for Eugene
Eugene's long wet season keeps the air damp for months. Inside, that means steam, condensation and closed-up kitchens where a thin or poorly prepped cabinet finish starts to chip around the handles. Outside, it means moss, mildew and water working into every crack in the paint.
The fix is the same in both places: clean and degrease first, sand so the primer bonds, use a primer made for the surface, and finish with a product built for the job. Cabinet-grade enamel inside; a premium exterior paint made for wet climates outside.
Cabinet work happens indoors, so the rain doesn't hold it up and winter is a fine time to do a kitchen. Exterior painting waits for dry weather, so book the estimate early and get on the spring schedule.

Explore →Painting or refinishing existing cabinets generally doesn't need a building permit. Many homes in older Eugene neighborhoods were built before 1978 and may have lead paint under newer coats, which matters for sanding both cabinets and siding. We check your home's age at the estimate and tell you up front what applies.
Most kitchens run roughly $3,500–$8,500 depending on how many doors and drawers there are, the condition of the current finish, and the color change. We measure and quote it free, in writing.
Yes. Oak has a heavy grain that shows through paint unless it's filled first. We grain-fill when you want a smooth, modern finish, or leave a little grain for a classic look.
Exterior painting needs dry weather, so it runs roughly May through October in the Willamette Valley. We do estimates year-round, so you can pick colors and get on the schedule before spring.
Most kitchens take about a week. Doors and drawer fronts come out to be sprayed, and you usually keep a working sink and appliances.
